Vision & Mission

A Tradition Built on a Firm Foundation

The Christkindl Fest started in 2019 with a very tall Christmas tree and the desire to create a community-centered event for families to enjoy that could become a regional tradition.

John Phair, Chairman of Holladay Properties, initiated this local tradition because of his love for Christmas and desire to help families spend time together celebrating the season.

Holladay Properties has a long history of serving the community and established this annual event on a firm foundation, literally. To support the giant trees that are selected each year, they built a concrete foundation with a sleeve that goes 12 feet into the ground to securely hold the trunk of the Christmas tree.

So far, most of the trees have been local, originating in South Bend or Mishawaka. The transportation and installation process has become somewhat of a tradition as well, with the same truck driver handling the transport of the enormous tree.

Past years’ trees have set records as the largest fresh-cut tree in Indiana or in the United States. When it comes to decorations, nothing is held back. Every detail is handled to perfection, including placement of roughly 10,000 lights and 750 ornaments.
